What I Offer
Helping you navigate the storm to find your gold
I am passionate about supporting people and I can work with you in a variety of ways, depending on your reasons for coming to therapy and what you would like to focus on in terms of a therapeutic goal.
I offer a safe, creative, confidential, and welcoming environment and an inclusive space to explore your inner storm and what might be causing emotional turmoil, internal conflict, distress, or worry within your environment.
I work collaboratively and I am with you in your journey. I draw on elements from Gestalt, Existential, Attachment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Transactional Analysis, Sensorimotor, Somatic Psychotherapy and Psychodynamic therapy combined with ways of working creatively and mindfully with what the mind and body might be telling us about your past and current lived experiences.
What we work with in the therapy room can provide us with information and useful clues; almost like a kind of compass to help us navigate a way forwards. Being open and curious about your inner map and storm can help us work with what might be contributing to your underlying distress. I can support you on your journey to help us find your gold.
Everyone’s definition of gold is different, as we are all unique. What would your gold look and feel like?
Finding your gold might mean:
- Discovering a new sense of who you are and what is important to you in life.
- Working on ways to reduce and manage anger, stress or anxiety and exploring what the root cause might be.
- Find a way of accepting, coping, and adjusting after a bereavement or loss and finding a sense of meaning again.
- Finding a new way to feel safe, be present and build resilience as a survivor of past trauma.
- Dealing with a need for perfectionism and overworking which may be difficult to maintain and discover what might be behind these feelings.
- Being connected to your body and feeling less stuck, or numb so you fully experience feelings and emotions.
- Feeling more resilient and able to cope with the demands of your job.
- Exploring authenticity, identity, and safety; harnessing your strengths in your environment as a neurodiverse adult.
- Explore life's meaning and a new purpose.
- Reducing negative self-talk and overthinking.
- Making new connections, friends or starting to date again.
A compassionate approach, supporting you to face life’s challenges
It can be daunting to reach out and ask for support, particularly if you haven’t had any previous experience of counselling, or psychotherapy. I hear you. It can feel scary.
To help with this I can offer a free 30-minute ‘explorer’ online session to enable you and I to see how we feel about working together. If we click then great, if not then that’s also fine. You have nothing to lose and have so much to gain by making the commitment to investing in yourself and your wellbeing.
First discovery therapy session
The first session is an intake discussion to uncover what you would like to work on in therapy and agree some goals. We will discuss your background, health, and medical history, hopes and fears about therapy to enable a plan to be developed with you.
For neurodivergent identifying, or clients with a disability, a first session could include a discussion to see what sensory, or environmental adjustments might be useful. This is to ensure therapy is accessible where possible, supportive and a welcoming experience for you.
