Who I Am
About Me
I’m Amanda Jayne Ling, a Relational Integrative Psychotherapist UKCP MBACP, Executive Coach and Chartered Fellow (FCIPD).
I aim to create a welcoming, sensory-friendly environment in my therapy space. I bring together ways of working which are flexible, creative and adaptable to meet client’s needs.
Working with you in a mindful and compassionate way is key to how I work to support authenticity, connection, awareness, acceptance and growth.
I am a registered member of the UKCP and BACP and my client work is always well supervised. I work within the UKCP and BACP Professional code of ethics, practice and confidentiality.
6 things you should
know about me
and how I work:
- My affirming therapy approach combines flexible ways of working with the mind and body, backed up by the latest thinking and research in neurobiology and neuroscience.
- I regard our relationship and collaboration as having equal importance as the therapy itself.
- I can offer a strengths-based, neurodiverse-affirming approach if needed which includes steps to address and support sensory and psychological safety.
- I can work with you in a trauma-informed way, at safe pace you are happy with.
- You are an expert in your own lived experience, and you know what you want from therapy.
- I have a compassionate and genuine interest in you, your story and how you came to seek therapy.
My career over the last 25 years has been all about helping people to grow and develop. I have worked in further education, human resource management & development, international talent management, equality, diversity, and inclusion management. I have been truly fortunate to work at a leadership and operational level in some wonderful organisations such as PRS for Music, Toyota Financial Services, Sthree PLC, The Environment Agency and more recently at the Security Industry Authority.
In 2012 I qualified as an executive coach and started offering HR consultancy to the music industry offering coaching, lecturing services, and HR support. By 2016 I had established my consultancy called Heddstart, working with music artists and clients such as Tileyard Education, Waterbear, Help Musicians UK and the PRS for Music Members Benevolent Fund.
As someone with a lifelong passion for psychology, learning and supporting people, by 2019 I realised that I wanted to work at a deeper therapeutic level and started my integrative psychotherapeutic training at the Metanoia Institute, and I am now starting to offer therapy online though my own practice.
Since 2021 I have worked therapeutically with clients at various settings, St Michael’s Hospice in St Leonards on Sea offering bereavement support, at Counselling Plus in Hastings as an Integrative Psychotherapist and at the Metanoia Institute Counselling Service, (MCPS).
I regularly undertake CPD to deepen my therapeutic skills and knowledge and this allows me to incorporate new ways of working into my practice with clients.
In addition to my therapy work, I am a qualified Mindfulness NOW teacher and I offer short courses and an 8-week MBCT/MBSR online programme to organisations, groups, and individuals, based on the work of John Kabatt-Zinn and Professor Mark Williams and Danny Penman.
